Installation of Nextcloud Hub

This service is aimed at organizations that do not have a production Nextcloud Hub instance yet and want to deploy a business-ready instance in a short time frame.

The Nextcloud instance location is chosen by the customer and in its full control: it can be on-premise, in a private or a public cloud.

We will install and test the instance in its core components: web server, database, storage and cache. Moreover we can install any other optional component that expands the platform and enrichs the user experience, for example the Full Text Search app.

In addition we will ensure that the instance is secure, fine-tuned for optimal performance and integrated with other key corporate digital services, such as firewalls and reverse proxies, email server, user authentication, virtualization environment and storage systems.

Benefits

  • Let your Nextcloud journey starts in the best way by trusting our expertise in carrying out a risky operation such as a fresh installation of a new core component platform.
  • We can work hand in hand with your technical staff, so that you are ready to be independent in platform operations.
  • Consult, ask and plan in advance the installation. Key design decisions, such as installation location, technological stack and functional requirements will be discussed and cleared as early as possible in the project.
  • Make optimal hardware sizing decisions to avoid unnecessary extra costs.
  • Installation of the platform is just the beginning, as a complete onboarding process would probably involve also migration, maintenance and user and system administrator training.
  • Review and learn in the PDF service report that we are going to deliver, including recommendations, system architecture and guidelines on application management.

Scope

  • We install and test the full platform or any subset of their components: Nextcloud Files (the only compulsory one), Nextcloud Groupware, Nextcloud Office and Nextcloud Talk.
  • A fully-scalable self-host videoconferencing is also possible thanks to the Talk High Performance Backend. This is covered in Videoconferencing with Nextcloud Talk.
  • We can take care of all the infrastructure components: virtualization, web server, database, storage and cache.
  • The installation can be made on a stand-alone system, that contains all the components, or a distributed system, in which the components are on separated, interconnected systems. The choice of one or another depends essentially on the expected number of users of the platform.
  • When choosing a distributed system, we will advise and propose the clustering topology depending on whether your goal is to reach high-availability and/or scalability. These qualities are achieved separately by each component and we have experience with the following setups:
    • Farms of web server nodes behind a load balancer / reverse proxy.
    • Distributed filesystems.
    • Redis clustering.
    • Database clustering and database loadbalancer, for example a Galera cluster behind a Max Scale node.
  • We setup authentication (with the internal user backend, Active Directory or LDAP-based, or Single Sign-on) and the authorization framework.
  • Optionally:
    • We setup key applications, such as sharing, e-mail notifications, webmail autoprovisioning, external storage, group folders and the support app.
    • We help you in clients setup: desktop (Windows, Linux, macOS) and mobile (iOS and Android) and across different access protocols (WebDAV, CardDAV and CalDAV).
    • We setup other optional services, check the Other Components page for more details. For example:
      • Full Text Search: this requires the creation of an index in an ElasticSearch server
      • Files High Performance Backend (also known as Notify Push) that optimizes desktop and browser notifications handling
      • Translate, for a local machine-translation available in Nextcloud Text and other applications.
